Message	Have attempted over many years and through many websites to find anyone who either served with, or knew my late father, or families of those comrades who knew my father, who may have memories, photos etc to share, even though many of his comrades have probably past on through the passage of time. On his return to the UK on November 20th of 1946, his aircraft went down near Suez soon after take-off and all 6 x crewmen were killed in the accident and laid to rest in armed forces cemetery in Cairo .  Aged 26 years at the time of his death.

Message	Gerry, my Dad, is 80 on 6th of October 2009 and we are having a celebration for him in Liverpool and would be delighted if anyone who served with him, could get in touch so I could officially invite them to come and join in the celebrations. Some background that may help: He was born in the Speke area of Liverpool in 1929; 5ft 10 with very dark wavy hair. Was very sporty especially football and boxing. He began his training with the Kings Liverpool Regiment in early 1947 at Harrington Barracks, Freshfield near Formby. He was then sent down to Portsmouth and also spent time at Thatcham near Reading . He was then sent out to Egypt in April 1948 and was sent back in November 1949. Message	We went via the Empire Ken, I think March 1953. 10 day from Southampton to Port Said. We stopped for a few hours in Algeria. After I had been with the 2nd Battalion for about four months, I managed to scrounge a transfer to R.A.V.C. attached to the R.M.P.'s in Abu Sultan I believe. The reason I am not sure is because I could have been in Aba with the 'Skins' then trained with the dogs in Geneifa, I seem to have lost my marbles after that. When you don't use these names they seem to join up all together. The 2nd Battalion was made up of a few Irish regulars and loads of cockney pratts like myself, but.....what a great bunch of blokes, the sense of humour was brilliant. I was flown home to Blackbush in July 1954. If there is anybody who could put my intelligence on the right lines again, brilliant. Message	Bill Martin was a driver at 119 Sup. Pl. and lived in Cornwall, hope he's still around. I was unfortunate to come home on the 'Empire Windrush' 28 March 1954. Sunday morning when she caught fire we were rescued by a Belgium cargo ship.  They shipped us to Algiers to the Foreign Legion barracks, then we transferred to the destroyer HMS 'St Kitts' which took us to Gib,  then flew on to Blackbush airport.  Happy days.

Hello there Charlie, Chris Wike here from Southampton with some good news.   I have now managed to come into contact with Alan Russell due to your help with the e mail address that you sent me, so thank you very much.   It does appear that he was in the Ordnance Directorate at GHQ MELF 17, but was in a different department at the same time, although we never met we both knew several of the same  people and I am looking forward to exchanging a few memories of our time there.  I  will keep you posted with a few details as time moves on.  An announcement on your website of the fact would also help. Fayid cinema) - success at last, - as he says in his email he cannot believe, like me, that all the others have passed away. The only information I can fathom is from my father's service book and scribblings on the back of old photographs, such as, - one taken by "that tree", - MELF 27, 1 Div. Sigs. Reg., - "C-in-C"?, - Exercise "Atomic Warfare" and operation "Standfast", - a dog called "Scruffy",  - a pal called "Geordie" and The Hippodrome. His RAF Number was 359319 and his rank on de-mob, (April 1961) was Chief Technician, his trade was Aircraft Carpenter.  He was awarded the following medals: - Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, General Service Medal with Palestine Clasp (1945/48), Defence Medal, War Medal. Oh incidentally, whilst in Cyprus on a scheme, I managed to shoot the gear stick off a One ton Humber truck with a 303 rifle.  My Sgt Maj was not too pleased about that. The word went out far and near, believe me. 14 days pay stopped.
